| Alan George Roach No VX88870 enlisted in Orbost 8/8/1942. Served in the 7th Division, 53rd Engineer's Coy. in New Guinea including Wau and Lae. Discharged 29/9/1944 with the rank of corporal. Alan, born in Sale 24/2/1913, married a daughter of Barney Butterworth and settled in Orbost where he carried on his father's barbershop business and raised 4 children. He died in Orbost 21/12/1973. |
