LOG CABIN CAFE REOPENS!
This coming Queen’s Birthday weekend in June will see the Scout’s “Log Cabin
Café” or “Café Cabane en Bois”, open for a reprise performance for the sixth
Woodend Winter Arts Festival.
Last year, Woodend Scouts operated the inaugural Log Cabin Café which proved to
be a successful fund-raising activity. To once again raise funds, the 1st Woodend
Scout Group community will be operating a café in the Log Cabin across the Queen’s
Birthday long weekend (12–14 June 2010). This is a busy weekend in Woodend with
many visitors to our town.
The Scouts will be operating a sausage sizzle in front of the log cabin, as well as
offering Devonshire teas, light lunches and refreshments inside. The atmosphere
inside the Log Cabin promises to be warm and rustic. Perfect for a midday soirée
amid the events of the Woodend Winter Arts Festival.
The Café will open from 10am to 3pm on each day of the weekend.
The Woodend Winter Arts Festival runs from Friday 11th - Monday 14th June.

Sausage Sizzle
The Woodend Market is run by the Woodend Lions, and is located at the Woodend Community Centre grounds, on the corner of Forest and High St.
The market is held on the third Sunday of the month, from September to April.
The Woodend Scout Group run a sausage sizzle as a major fundraiser, with sausages, burgers, tea, coffee and cold drinks.
We encourage all parents and youth members to participate. If everyone pitches in, each family would only have to do this once or twice a year, for about 3 hours for each event. Younger members (Cubs) need to be accompanied by their parents, and they learn some new skills while they are there.
This is a great way to have a public presence in our community, and to meet other scouting families.

Christmas Tree Drive
Each weekend in December, we run Christmas Tree drive from the Scout Hall.
Your support could include picking up the trees (local), putting trees out in morning and back in Log Cabin at the end of each day, keeping water in buckets topped up, and of course SALES!
Any help on these weekends is appreciated - profits go directly to the group.
Dates for 2009 will be posted later in the year.

| Our leaders work hard to ensure our children have access to great activities and resources. We need to raise funds for Leaders uniforms and training, and equipment for activities. At times we raise money to subsidise the cost of major events our children want to attend. Please help us out with any events at any time - all helpers welcome. |
