Family Violence Prevention Network
Dear Family Violence Prevention Networkers,
Welcome to the Family Violence Prevention Online Community! This is a really great tool for continuing to be connected to the family violence prevention network in the Western Metropolitan sub region of Melbourne. The online community is designed for members of the Family Violence Prevention Network to: advertise upcoming events and training; generate discussion around relevant issues like – how is the new Integrated Family Violence Service System going to work, and how can we work with it? Or what are we going to do for Week Without Violence? ; and share important documents and information.
While the Family Violence Prevention Online Community can’t take the place of meeting up face-to-face (but will be very useful for you to organize meetings with others involved in the network!) there are some very useful and important things it can do. Here are some of them:
Forum – have online discussion with other members about relevant and significant issues.
Mailing List – know who’s involved and be able to contact them easily.
Group Files – an online library of really useful resources like ‘Measuring the Tides of Violence’ and ‘Choosing Positive Paths’ that you can download, and add resources that the Community would find useful.
An Events section, where you can post upcoming events and training and find out what’s coming up.
Links to other excellent websites.
And of course, an archive of Photos, where you can post photos from recent events, or check out some of the brilliant events that have taken place in the not so distant past.
Once you’re signed up, you can choose to have updates sent to your email account, to let you know when something new has been put on the site.
The Family Violence Prevention Online Community has loads of potential and I really encourage you to make use of it and connect with others in the Family Violence Prevention Network. Please remember that free training is available on how to use the Online Community.
For technical information about how to use the site, and if you'd like to know more about how to use the Online Community, VicNet run training sessions in the city. Please check out the following link for details.
