FERNWOOD VIPERS 2010 - PRE-SEASON TRAINING

Dear Players

The FFV Victorian Champions League has now come to a close, with girls' and womens' squads from Loddon-Mallee Lightning and Rivers FC performing very well in the Finals, and talented young female footballers from Goulburn-North East and Loddon-Mallee zones really shining across several age-groups.

Now the focus really turns towards the winter season and I hope you are all as eager as I am to see the Vipers back on the park and flying the flag for northern Victoria in the 2010 Womens Premier League (WPL).

The Vipers squad in 2009 was once again the youngest in the WPL, and consolidated our growing reputation as THE side to watch out for - the increasing number of Vipers players in FFV State squads (both outdoor and futsal) is testimony to the growing pool of talented players who are pulling on the Vipers shirt. The never-say-die team spirit of our players also earned the Vipers many admirers amongst opposition coaches and supporters.

Unlike our WPL opposition clubs in Melbourne, we do not get the whole Vipers squad together for regular training once the WPL season starts, so our pre-season training days are VITAL - the schedule will be FULL-ON so come prepared to stretch your limits.

Our pre-season program will kick off on Sunday 28th February, running from 10:30am till about 3:30pm, at the Moama Recreation Reserve (off Perricoota Road, Moama).

I have not yet finalised the training plan, so if players want to put in requests for preferred activities/themes, I will try and accommodate you.

The remaining pre-season sessions will be...

(2) Sun 14th Mar'10 @ McEwen Reserve, Shepparton (eg. 10:30am - 4:30pm?)

(3) Sat 20th Mar'10 @ Epsom-Huntly Rec Res - training (11:00am-1:00pm?) then Vipers vs FCV Women AllStars match (4:00-5:45pm)

(4) Sun 28th Mar'10 @ McEwen Reserve, Shepparton (eg. 10:30am - 4:30pm?)

(5) Wed 7th Apr'10 @ Epsom-Huntly Rec Res (eg. 10:30am - 4:30pm?)

I am trying to minimize both costs and travel for all players (spread across a large area of northern Victoria), so have shared the sessions between Bendigo, Moama and Shepp. At this stage the pre-season consists of just the five 1-day sessions over about 6 weeks, with both the Labour Day long weekend and Easter Friday to Monday left clear. I'd hope most players will be able to attend four of these sessions (or three at a minimum).

Please contact me if you have any concerns, questions or suggestions.

Cheers - GO VIPERS!!!
