Zone Special Occasions

The 2009 Zone Conference for Zone QA02 (Brisbane Northside) was held on Saturday, 18th April at Chermside Bowls Club. 79 members representing the 7 clubs in the Zone came along and enjoyed a full day of information on VIEW and The Smith Family.

The VIP guests were our National Councillor Pat, and The Smith Family's Elissa. Pat told us that we had a Can Do attitude, and Elissa brought us up to date on The Smith Family and enlightened us on the new names for the Learning for Life suite of programs.

These new names were used as the table names and the table centrepieces were made out of stationery packs and library bags. Each club made up a table centrepiece out of school stationery items, fashioning them into unbelievable images such as a candle (as pic shows with Arana ladies), a mortar board, gift boxes, a train set, etc. These packs were later donated to the local Learning for Life Workers for the students in our area.

13 raffle prizes were on offer and a major raffle was also drawn.

The day ended with the Northside Singers taking us through folk songs from around the world. Everyone walked out humming a tune and it was a happy end to a successful and fun day.
