Meet the Councillors

Hello, I'm the 2010 Zone Councillor for Zone QA02 (Brisbane Northside). My name is Lyall and my home club is Brendale Evening VIEW Club. I joined VIEW in 2003 and immediately found myself on Committee as Assistant Secretary. Then in years to follow, Secretary, Delegate and now Zone Councillor. My big adventure was going to work in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in my younger days - not knowing a sole up there. I met Ian and we married in Lae, Papua New Guinea 38 years ago where we lived for 5 years, and then moved to Darwin for 5 years then onto Brisbane. We have 2 children of whom I am especially proud. My daughter and son both completed a good education gaining degrees, and have now both married. We have 2 and 4/9ths grandchildren (a grandson and a grand daughter and the third one due in November 2009). We have survived some very bad earth tremours and a cyclone (Tracy). I have always loved sport, being involved from childhood in anything that was going. My passion is netball, and I've been a coach and on committees over the years - also representing Queensland in my very, very early years. I hope by the year's end to be able to say I now play croquet. I keep active by walking and doing walk aerobics. I live in a great part of Brisbane. We enjoy doing a bit of caravanning when we can, and love the Outback and also Australia's coastline. I enjoy all VIEW functions and the fun and friendship it envelops.
