VIEW Clubs of Australia - Online

In 1960 under the direction of George Forbes, the then General Secretary of the Smith Family, the first VIEW Club in Balgowlah in Sydney was formed. The VIEW Club was formed at a time in our history when women were not permitted to join clubs (yes, this was only in 1960) such as Rotary, Apex, Lions or other service clubs. It was a time when women were restricted by legislation and regulation about where they could go and what they could do. George Forbes realised social isolation of women exacerbated many family concerns and would be eased when women were able to meet regularly with other women. Women value their female friends and confidants whether they are single or married, parents or grandparents, pursuing a career or working from or in the home.
