Plenty River Trail Ride, Sunday, 22 August, 2004

Report by Jon F. Photos by Robert W

We started from Chelsworth Park, Ivanhoe. We rode along the Yarra River and turned left to Banule Rd, and rode along Plenty River to Greensborough Railway Station. A very picturesque trail through rural countryside, and very close to the city...sometimes it is surprising how little distance you can travel out of the city and really feel like you are somewhere else, “away from it all”... started out with five riders and finished with three ( as the pictures might show, or maybe not)...

Not because of the terrain, but because of other commitments... Trail surface varied, from concrete to gravel but was always easy to ride on... a few hills, but nothing too bad, and always the reward of rolling down...And like so many of the trails in Melbourne, sign posting could have been better...but wasn’t too bad... of course good navigation skills always help...

The weather was great on the way out, and towards the end of the ride the rain began... This was one of those rides, where I had decided to ride to the start...On the 14 km ride home I discovered just how much it can rain in Melbourne when it “pours down”...and I think my next HPV purchase will be mud guards! But the ride it self was enjoyable for all...

cheers
