Bike Swap Meet And The Bay Trail Ride To Mordialloc, Sunday 15 August, 2004

Just a 'short blimp' on Sunday's ride....not too much 'hot-air'.

Started out for Luna Park just before ten o'clock from Robert's place in Ormond. The weather was clearing and looking promising after the previous days record setting low for August during the last six years or so.....below 10 degrees for the day's high. At Luna Park, with fine weather, the bike swap-meet was in full swing with a great array of bikes, bike parts and accessories....always a most interesting gathering.

The brave souls who turned out this day were well rewarded; George on his great Swift, Steve on a very interesting tandem that he can alternate pedaling positions on, Robert on his light-weight Wilkinson and myself on Xevon. We set off along the Bay-side bike path to Mordialloc around 11.00am. This is an enjoyable ride with great 'seaside' vistas along mostly well maintained paths.

Steve departed at the North Road cafe early on, leaving the 'three bentkateers' to ride on towards our destination. Lunch was at the Mordialloc pavilion where a group of primary school aged kids were introduced to the world of recumbents. We rode back passing through Hampton while searching for 'antiques', however as none were open, my craving for 'gelato' was too strong. Later on Robert and l left George at the Nepean Highway bike path and called it another great day's ride in the 'worlds most livable city'.
