Maribyrnong River Trail Ride, Sunday 28 May 2005

Every group has something evil that they do to initiate newcomers. In the case of the hpv "be spontaneous" group they get you to write the trip report - well it got me thinking - the development of the wheel happened more or less concurrently with the development of the road. So what were we doing lifting our creations over Parks Victoria gates and shaking ourselves to bits over a kilometre of scarcely compacted road metal?

Well we were touring along the Maribyrnong River in search of Brimbank Park and in spite of the obstacles our fearless leader Rob found it. On the way we climbed the switchback path that gives you stunning views across the Maribyrnong Valley -and watched a hawk drifting on the air - intent on dinner no doubt but giving a great vision of freedom and life mooching along in the real world. And I praised the man who made my egg rings - which in my opinion are the sweetest piece of engineering given to the hill-climbing recumbent cyclist.
Thanks for the ride fellas and thank you Chris for the assorted dried fruits - I should have been more provident. See you next time the spontaneous mood catches me.
