A recent Sunday's 'Be Spon' bike ride started with a train trip from Frankston to Ormond, a little late as I like to sleep in on days like this!

The weather looked promising as John and I stepped down from the train and set off through the suburbs on our way to meet up with everyone at Studley Park. The main group was riding the Capital Trail from the other side of the City and we were planning to ride part of the same trail from this side of town as we could not get to the start on time.

At Studley Park we met up with Chris and George on Swift trikes, Robert on his Wilkinson bike, Ludo and Renild on home-built 'specials' and Jon on his Greenspeed clone trike. Lunch was in the park grounds just above the river with a backdrop of the bridge and surrounding trees....a pretty setting for anyone planning a Sunday picnic.

...I told you these "wedgie" riders are just mad...

After a short lunch break, we all set off for the ride to Como Park and not even a small landslide could hold back the progress of some of the riders along the trail this day! Just near Como Park, we stopped for while at the cafe above the river banks, and sheltered from the wind while enjoying drinks in the tent like surrounds.....very enjoyable!

"Be Spon" weekly rides at their best!

The ride continued along the Yarra river past the rowing clubs and then onto busy Southbank. We all managed to safely manoeuver through the crowds and along the way, met up with two Greenspeed trike riders traveling the other way. At the Exhibition Centre, the group said their goodbyes and divided for the trip home. Robert, John and I rode back through Port Melbourne, St.Kilda, Brighton and then a little while later found ourselves on the Station platform waiting for the train to take us back home after a great days ride along some of Melbourne's beautiful trails.
