VicHPV Community is a website for Victorian's interested in Human Powered Vehicles or Recumbent bikes. Most members of the community are also members of OzHPV, the Australian association for Human Powered Vehicles. One of the major activities of VicHPV community is organising free social rides in Victoria. These rides are open to anyone, whether you are a member of OzHPV or not. Other activites of members include particpating in the annual national "Challenge" run by OzHPV, which is a friendly get-together with both competitive and fun events. Members are also involved in organising events, commuting, building, racing and advocating for HPVs.
Sample the comfort and joy of riding a recumbent.
- Join us at our Come and Try recumbent days, or the OzHPV Challenge.
- Join us on one of the regular rides on your own bike. There is usually an opportunity to try a recumbent during the ride. Most of the rides are on bike trails, so if you want a shorter ride it's easy to ride part way and return by the same path.
- Suppliers usually allow potential purchasers to test ride their bikes/recumbents.
If you are already wanting to know why are they called HPVs and not recumbents you can click here
OzHPV is affiliated with the International Human Powered Vehicle Association (IHPVA). OzHPV also publishes the members newsletter "HUFF" six times per year. OzHPV is the sanctioning body for unlimited HPV competition on land, air and water.
You can click here to learn how to join OzHPV and enjoy the benefits for very minimal cost. Your membership will assist OzHPV and VICHPV in promoting HPVs and sustainable transport and providing more events for you.
Looking for a web project??
Hi all,Are you a web wizard? Your webmaster has basic HTML skills but finds it time consuming to edit, in order to add new entries and information. I'd love a hand from someone out there with skills and enthusiasm, oh and time, to turn this website into something a bit more user-friendly for the non-geek, and perhaps DIY. I'd like to be able to drop in a ride report in Word and not have to put in paragraph markers and all that stuff!! I'd like to have a means for people to add their own ride and event reports.
If you can help, please contact the by email. Cheers!VicHPV website is hosted on My Connected Communities ( MC2 ) an initiative of the Victorian Government. If you would like to be part of the VicHPV community you can join our yahoo group and be kept upto date with what is happening in the community. You can then view the VICHPV Bulletin Board and optionally select whether you receive emails of rides, events etc. There is no obligation or cost involved, the group has a spam filter and you can easily remove yourself from the list if you wish.
Just click here >>> Subscribe and send the email (you don’t need to type anything!). A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you, and you are on the list. You can Unsubscribe whenever you wish.
