Be Spon Saturday 12th April - Ballarat ride!

This is a SATURDAY ride. Hope as many as can make it will come up/down/across to Ballarat for a great group ride on quiet country roads. The plan is to meet at Lake Wendouree at around 10 am, for a 10.30 am start, possibly near the Botanic Gardens, and then ride a loop around the lake, and head north towards Creswick. We will loop around Creswick from the west, and come into the township from the north, where we will stop for lunch. A cut lunch would be preferred, but there will be shops in Creswick if you need them. We will then head down the Old Melbourne road and then come in to Ballarat past the White Swan reservoir. This has nice long steep hill, so very good for us speed freaks out there! Then back to the lake, or one of our local cafes for a latte or cappuccino (and cake of course!) The ride is a round 50 k's on quiet country roads, no nasty hills, and good road surfaces. The weather should be kind to us, with light winds predicted, and maybe, just maybe the odd passing shower, so come prepared! I will also bring some maps to share with the group, that have been prepared by our local BUG, and are very high quality. These maps detail quite a few bike rides around the Ballarat district, as well as the Ballarat to Skipton rail rail, and location of the bike paths in and around Ballarat. Should be handy if anyone becomes separated from the group for any reason, which I hope doesn't happen! So bring your bike/trike, a healthy serve of enthusiasm, and lets have fun! Go for your life' Festival of Cycling:

Proudly supported by the Victorian Government through its ‘Go For Your Life’ initiatives,the 'Go for your life' Festival of Cycling aims to promote a day of healthy participation for all cyclists and their families at Albert Park. The festival will incorporate a wide variety of cycling events, with the “Albert Park Cycling Grand Prix” providing a mix of competitive cycle events, for elite, club, and corporate competitors, in teams or as individual riders. Families, schools and recreational cyclists are also encouraged to participate in the Festival Fun Ride and ‘Go for your life’ One Hour Challenge.
