Pedal removal
I always forget which way the pedals are screwed on to the crank arms, so now I have this to check.
Pedal marked "L" goes on the left hand side (The crank arm without a chain wheel).
The direction to tighten the pedal marked "L" is anticlockwise, as viewed from the side as shown in picture.
Pedal marked "R" goes on the right hand side ( the crank arm with a chain wheel).
The direction to tighten the "R" pedal is clockwise, as viewed from the side as shown in picture.
On some older bikes pedals might have no markings, directions still are the same based on the side the crank arm is on, i.e. no chain wheel is left hand side (except on tandems, but that is another story).
