Making chain guards/guides
This page will show you "the recipe" to straighten poly pipe to use to guard against chains and guide them on your HPV. If you have ever used ply pipe, you may be aware of its tendency to return to the coil shape which you purchased it in. Usually at times when you don’t want it to happen!
Your first ingredient is clearly, some poly pipe as used for irrigation systems in gardens and available from most hardware stores. Size is usually 12 or 13 mm. However, you should check that your chain fits, by taking some with you. Begin by cutting the poly pipe to a few centimeters longer than the length you want.
Other ingredients you will need include a small funnel, a jug of boiling water, a sharp knife and a pair of pliers or multi grips.

Step one, put the jug on to boil. While the jug is on seal the end of the poly pipe in what ever way you like.
Step two, place the funnel in the end of pipe, hold away from body and get your assistant to give you the now boiled jug.

Step three, pour carefully so boiling water does not splash back at you. When pipe is full hang pipe up to allow it to cool. When cool, you will now have a straight piece of pipe. Trim off sealed end with sharp knife.
