| RESPONSIBLE VISTOR BEHAVIOUR AT ROCK ART SITES
* Never touch or wet rock art - it is highly damaging * Never chalk or enhance engravings * Do not walk on engraved rock * Leave all archaeological artefacts as they are * Only take photographs, only leave your footsteps This panel in Horse Canyon is called Nine Faces to distinguish it from other sites in the area with for instance Five or Thirteen similar images. In this case they are monochrome white, but polychrome examples also occur elsewhere. The Face Motif Style (usually depicting only the face with or without a torso) have been ascribed to the Late Canyonlands Anasazi Period (with possible Fremont influence). |
