Mildura

Warning to Vegans. During the month of May there are grasshoppers on the roads around Mildura.

Mildura is a bicycling heaven. Many triatheletes and bicyclists train in the area. Mildura and its surrounds are predominantly flat, the roads are sealed and wide, most of the major roads have bicyle strips or pedestrian-cyclist shared footpaths.

There are water fountains in the centre of town. One is in Langtree Mall.
One is in the traffic island at the T-junction of Deakin Avenueand 7th Street.
One is 200 m further up Deakin Avenue, in the traffic island opposite the courthouse.

Mildura Food
The main supermarkets are open until 12pm or later.

There are several for public use.
One is in the traffic island closest to the T-junction of Deakin Avenue and 7th Street.
One is at the K-mart on 8th Street.
One is behind Woolworths in Lime Avenue.
There is an automated facility in Langtree Mall but this closes relatively early at night.

The Waves Recreations-Aquatic Centre has very good facilities however you will have to pay for an exercise session or become a member.

Red Cliffs Water
There are water fountains at the park in the centre of town (Just look for Big Lizzie, the monument of an enormous freight vehicle)

Buronga Showers
There are showers for public use at the Shell service station in Buronga, in NSW over the bridge from Mildura on the Sturt Highway.

Gol Gol Comfort Stops and Water
This is a great place for a comfort stop (in the centre of town on the Sturt Highway) and to get filtered water - at the same place.

Monak

Food: there are many fruit stalls around Monak

Lake Culluleraine
There are two service stations in Lake Culluleraine for food.
Warning: do not refill your water bottles at the Johansen Memorial Park, the rainwater is polluted, smelly and bad tasting.
There is a comfort stop facility her though as well as at the service stations.

South Australia-Victoria Border
Crossing the border from Victoria into South Australia, the road immediately becomes poorer. The verges are not so wide and the road surface rougher (though still good)

Hattah-Kulkyne Area
This is sand dune country so expect regular low hills.

Ouyen
