| Ute was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1961. Her family migrated to Australia in 1965.
Ute realised her talents from a very early age and was encouraged by her mother and friends all through her life. In 1976, at the age of 14, Ute entered her first exhibit into the 'Keilor Rotary Art Exhibition', becoming the youngest exhibitor. Her exhibit 'My Pony' was sold on opening night. The following year she entered the 'Keilor Art Token' and won first prize in the 11-15 years drawing section. It was in 1996 when she reacquainted herself with drawing and painting with much vigour and encouragement from family and friends. It was also the year she discovered pastels, which took her work to new heights. Ute was still at this stage predominately self taught. In 1997, Ute studied and passed with honours Certificate IV in Electronic Publishing at Victoria University of Technology, thus enabling her to work for a book publishing company. This also enabled her to afford to do evening classes in watercolour and oil painting and pastel. This was to be her first formal training of sorts. In 2000 Ute remarried, to David Koskie, who is the son of the late Jack L. Koskie, a notable Australian and International artist. In 2003, as a mature aged student, Ute embarked on a new journey in her artistic career by enrolling in the Diploma of Visual Arts at B.R.I.T. After two years of study her artistic talents soared to new heights. Previously she had no abilities in sculpture and printmaking, or so she thought. Ute found that she not only had talent for drawing or painting but that she unleashed new talents, with much vigour, during her two years at B.R.I.T. 2004 saw Ute complete her Diploma with much success and majoring in two subjects, Painting and Printmaking. Ute's works are found in private collections in Germany and Australia. Ute has previously exhibited: 2001 * Daylesford Lions Art Show * Strathfieldsaye CFA Annual Art Show * Joint Exhibition with George McElroy (at Sue's Treasured Memories) 2000 * Daylesford Lions Art Show * Ballan Annual Art Show * Strathfieldsaye CFA Annual Art Show 1998 * Altona Rotary Art Festival * Ballan Annual Art Show 1977 * Keilor Art Token 1976 * Keilor Rotary Art Exhibition |
