U3A Kilmore & District Inc.
The University of the Third Age is a self help learning group for retired people. There are no entry requirements for membership (other than being retired), no assessment of learning and no academic awards.

U3A Kilmore & District was established in June 1999 as an activity of the Kilmore Mechanics Institute and Free Library Inc. and we now have in excess of 190 members.

U3A policy is to engage as many members as possible in the running of the organization. This includes functions such as the leading of classes, organization of the courses programs, and convening courses. All positions are on a voluntary basis.

An annual subscription of $20/single and $30/couple is payable on the 1st July each year. This low annual fee is usually sufficient to cover overheads. Hence, as a rule, there is no need for separate enrolment fees for individual classes unless required for materials or use of equipment. Members, having paid their annual subscription, can join as many classes as they wish.

Courses are held each day of the week at the Kilmore Library, Kilmore Community House, Broadford Community Centre, Wallan Community Centre, in members' homes and the two walking groups meet at various locations.

The length of courses vary, groups may be any size, and teaching may be done by an individual or a team. We offer a number of courses that include....

New courses are offered to meet the needs of members and likewise, courses are deleted due to lack of continuing interest or unavailability of the convener.

A quarterly timetable is distributed to all members which lists the convener and their phone number plus day, time, dates and location of each course.

In addition, craft classes are offered as required and are advertised in the newsletter which you can access on this site. In the past a number of conveners have offered basket weaving, crazy patchwork, mosaic, raffia hats, etc.

Quarterly morning teas are held at the Kilmore Library where items of interest are advised to members and conveners give a brief description of their course progress.

Regular events in which U3A participate include:
- Seniors festival in October each year
- Adult Learners Week in September
- Seminars and workshops
- Regional conferences
- State conferences

By becoming a member of U3A Kilmore and District Inc., social interaction and lifelong learning will be enriched and enhanced through the educational, social, creative and physical activities we offer.

Nobody fails with U3A because there is no assessment of these activities.
