POLICE FIRE AMBULANCE
Police dogs with cameras may save your life if a building is bombed.
The Canine Section's main role is to assist operational police in areas such as: The apprehension of violent offenders. The tracking of offenders from crime scenes. Locating weapons and stolen property. Responding to anti-social behaviour, demonstrations and riots. The detection of narcotics in locations such as houses, buildings, vehicles, vessels and aircraft. Traffic management is also handled by the police mounted unit and the airwing assists with reporting vehicle movements.
The Police Mounted Unit assists with crowd control and helps protests and marches remain orderly.
Helicopters are the mainstay of the police airwing . These aircraft are capable of performing aerial support for police operations and search and rescue, with the helicopter capable of two person winching and medical evacuations. All aircraft are capable of using the Forward Looking Infra-Red (FLIR) camera, which is a device used to track heat sources, such as a vehicle or human body in darkness as well as having a high powered zoom video camera for daylight hours.
