Our major strategies in the Tallangatta CellWe are working at many levels within our cluster to create a seamless P - 12 Education community. Our vision is that students and teachers will feel connected and at ease to learn and thrive within our P -12 context. We have many unique settings, each with their own special and valued characteristics, however we all share the same goal of genuine sharing and creating the best learning environment for our students and our families. Our strategies work on the levels of shared policy, shared programs, shared understandings, strong relationships, and shared projects. As much as possible we connect students and teachers across our settings through a multi-campus approach and through technological connection with each other and the wider educational world. We are also establishing strong and practical links with Tertiary institutions in both pedagogical research and Teacher Education. Our principals decided in July 2003 that when we are successful, a student’s typical week in our cluster will look like this: · Surprises in the program – a “wow” factor · Enough routine for security · Fun · Teachers smiling, caring, listening, sharing – able to be light and positive · Experiences to build persistence · Thinking · Students and teachers planning activities together rather than teachers planning for students · Some core teaching · Continual 2-way engagement on values · Some defined editing techniques across all subjects involving continuous improvement processes - review, reflection, revising · Students recognising the worth of curriculum, even if it is not within their specific interest area all the time. · Some sort of student presentation of their learning – in different situations, formal and informal, large and small groups, adult and student audiences, · Team oriented approach to learning · Some daily physical learning activities. · Involvement and drawing on the unique learning opportunities and resources of the community · Regular electronic connection with students from other sites · Subject to $$, students move to other sites for projects Please visit each link for details. Teacher shadowing is one of our Professional Learning team strategies to develop shared understandings between teachers in our cluster. We learn from each other and share what we do.
Shared Teachers and Students as Teachers, Student Coaches, Mentors and Facilitators An essential strategy in creating a seamless educational community is to create meaningful ways for students to interact across the school sites, here are some examples. We are sharing the expertise of our teachers across our schools as well as developing teaching skills in students who can deliver programs within schools.
We are working hard to find ways to share resources efficiently and with the best possible outcomes for students. Obviously personnel sharing is one critical resource, as are our students, but sharing physical resources is also a great way to build teamwork and shared understandings between teachers and students. Often this leads to new and imaginative ways to improve our programs.
It is our vision to create our own relevant and pedagogically outstanding P - 12 curriculum to best meet the needs of the students of our cluster.
Enterprise Education is much more than running a business and making money yet this is what most people think of first - see what we mean by enterprise education
We are developing shared projects which provide a meaningful focus for communication between our schools. These projects will build a sense of one educational community on many sites
The Tallangatta Cell has agreed to create a shared staffing profile to maximise the efficiencies of employment and to create professional teams which cross the boundaries of single sites.
Cluster Calendar and Forum, web sites, communities = Communication To increase efficiency and clear communication we have created a Cluster Calendar and Forum through the 'My Connected Communities' initiative (mc2.) This enables us to create web pages, communities and have personal file space and shared files as well.
