Tallangatta District has a long history of innovation in curriulum and school organisation.

Tallangatta Secondary college has operated a vertically aligned curriculum structure since 1979. It has an integrated transition program for semester one of year seven, a vertically grouped middle school where students from years 7 (second Semester) to year 10 elect semester or term length units within the 8 Key Learning Areas at two levels of difficulty. In the later years students select units from VCE, VET and VCAL. Students can select VET units from year nine onwards and VCE units from year 10 onwards. VCAL is offered to year 11 and 12 as a whole program, however students may alsp select VCE units as part of their VCAL certficate course.

Motorcycle Education

This program began in 2002 and was initiated to address safety and familiarisation with motorcycles - a common form of recreation for our students.

Personal Best - year nine

Initiated in 2001 TSC's General Peter Cosgrove Personal Best Certificate offers negotiated project-based learning to all year nines within a holistic framework of competency-based modules outside of specific CSF11 requirements.

Enterprise Education

Enterprise Education is one of Tallangatta Secondary College's most recent initiatives. This concept ties together much of what the college has developed in recent years and offers a way forward to new initiatives.

Sports Leaders

Students in years 10, 11 and 12 are trained as VET sports leaders. They work in schools and the community.

Vertical Modular Grouping

Tallangatta Secondary College has had vertical curriculum organisation since 1979.

Hospitality and Community catering

VET hospitality has provided a vehicle to develop a long standing commitment to catering. A purpose-built mobile catering unit will soon be delivered.

Student-operated Canteen

Students have managed and operated TSC's school canteen for more than 15 years. Profits from the canteen provide curriculum initiatives resources which directly benefit current students.

Year 6/7 Transition

Our Transtion program has grown to be an exemplary model for other school networks thanks to the energies and commitments of teachers to share and communicate over many years, supported by a P - 12 curriculum committee which has met each term since 1992.
