I was born in 1940. I am married with five sons and also eight grandchildren. The role of Grandma suits me perfectly, and I know a lot of stories will emerge covering many fun times we share.
My first memory of being recognised for my writing was when in Grade 6. I wrote a composition about a bicycle using the voice of the bicycle to tell the story. I was given 11/10 by my teacher Mr. Jones. I was impressed.
Another story about the Plenty River was published in 1951 in the Corinella's page in The Sun newspaper. I received a 10/- postal note. I was more than impressed.Apart from a few odd pieces during High School, I was in my thirties before I put pen to paper again. Most of this was poetry. If something sad or humourous moved me, I wrote a poem about it. Consequently I have a collection of past events that might otherwise been forgotton.
Five years ago, I joined a Writing Class at the Diamond Creek Living & Learning Centre. It has added another dimension to my life.We are a very special group who inspire each other, under the guidance of an exceptional Teacher. With the help of the computer, we have advanced even further.
Last year we completed an advanced course MC2, sponsered by Vicnet. As a Senior citizen, I enjoy my participation in Adult Education, and the opportunity of expanding my knowledge in this ever changing world of modern technology.
