Each Snowy River Thinking activity or event will be recorded here chronologically. Most events will also have their own page documenting the full range of things that happened.
Term 3 2006 The Large Woody Debris [LWD] ideas are slowly becoming a reality. It is hoped we will soon see some action in the river. Planning is underway to extend the funding for Snowy River Thinking so we can continue to monitor the river as the LWD starts to alter the river landscape. The talk given to the River Health Conference by the 6 Yr5-6 students from the cluster last term has been presented around the cluster and to the community. It has been well received and has received great praise. It has been presented to: Yr 4-5-6 Orbost Primary School Yr 4-5-6 Orbost North Primary School Yr 5-6 St Josephs School Yr 5-6 Newmerella Primary School Yr 1-6 Marlo Primary School Y7 7 Maths classes Orbost Secondary College and Orbost Rotary Club. Rotary were very supportive, gave the students an excellent meal before their talk and awarded them with a gift boxed pen for their efforts. Thank you Rotary! A newspaper story on the presentation was also printed in the Snowy River Mail. The second half of this busy term has been taken up with visits to Yr3-4 classes. We have been exploring the concepts of food chains, good webs and the role water plays. |
