Notes to the Smith Family Tree

1. This is a draft tree which could contain mistakes. Please notify us of any corrections or additions, and buy a government BD&M certificate if you need to be certain of a person's details.

2. Where full dates for an event appear in the tree, they have come from a copy of the original certificate, or from a family member.

3. Where a year only is given for a birth, death or marriage, the source is the Victorian Indexes of BD&M. The Victorian Indexes give the year of registration, not necessarily of the event. If an event occurred in December, it is commonly registered in January the following year.

4. The place of an event in the Indexes is sometimes different to family records. The indexes often just give the registration district or nearest main town. When a place name is given as eg. [PARK], we weren't certain of the place and have left it as it appears in the indexes.
