What Happens When You Start To Sit

Points to Ponder>

Starting Out

Due to the fact I have had many similar queries on the same lines in the last few weeks, it has prompted me to do a short editorial on 'what is' and 'what is not' the right way to start.

When we start on on our spiritual journey and pick up enough courage to sit in a development group our first task is to find one to join.
It is much the same as it is for many who go to buy something or make a purchase. You are guided by the salesperson as to what you need and what is the best for you, yet so often we are so disappointed after a few weeks when you realise the purchase does not satisfy your needs. A similar thing happens to those who join groups and so perhaps a few points in the following lines will be of use to those who are starting out on their own spiritual journey.

Most people starting out are led by either finding the comfort of spirit via an inner driving force or they have felt the power of the spirit by a reading/healing or a spiritual experience.

It is important when eventually a circle is found that the same energy which has led you to a group is felt in the circle and that you are completely at ease and feel the love of the group.

The leader of the circle should have their authority respected at all times but to my mind all procedures within the circle should be done in love and with kindness, in other words the leader whilst being firm should also respect those that sit with them.
The new sitter should know that the energies which surround their body will change and through natural means strange sensations will be felt in all sorts of ways, mainly for the better. The reason for new sensations is because of the spirit being woken within and the body and mind advising you that something around you has changed.
The new sitter will find that people they know will seem to treat them differently, some will drop out of your circle of friends and new ones enter.
Perhaps the biggest change will be that those inner beliefs learned during your earthly stay will come strongly to the mind, opposing change, testing your commitment to your new beliefs. These learnings can be from things that have caused fear (for example) to you and that fear will perhaps be brought forward. e.g. it may be that you feel pressure around and think that spirit is pushing you. This can be caused by those inner beliefs and learnt thinking (e.g. from books, TV, Bible, Church) but the big thing to know is that like dreams, that which is understood becomes acceptable and the fears being understood disappear and then the sitter soon starts to reach the point of quietness, looking out into a spirit world waiting, listening and watching, all this without the inner mind making it's objections, clearing the way for psychic and/or spirit communication in peace and love.
In conclusion, if as a new sitter you feel very uncomfortable over a period of time, (not in a 'this is strange' way), then that circle is not for you. It does not mean that there is anything wrong with the circle but perhaps your energy and theirs are not compatibled.

On the new sitters part always try to have an open mind and try to help other sitters in the circle when not working yourself. Try to comply with the requests of the circle leader positively with the knowledge that every moment that you spend in a group will help you progress along your new found pathway.
