Thank you to everyone (an estimated 1000 people) who helped to celebrate the lives of people with Down syndrome by joining us on Sunday 19th October for Buddy Walk-Australia 2008, in Sydney. We had glorious sunshine, a leisurely walk across the Harbour Bridge to a beautiful waterside park in Kirribilli, and a gentle sea breeze .... perfect!

A Special Thank You to all of you for cleaning up after your own group - it kept the final clean-up manageable, and left the park looking ready for its next event

And of course, our very grateful thanks to our Buddy Walk Heroes and everyone who bought raffle tickets, organised sponsorships, and made donations - your generosity is much appreciated

If you have photos from the Sydney Buddy Walk, that you would like to share, please email them tophotos@buddywalk.org.au

Our thanks and congratulations to

* Buddy Walk Patron, Virginia Judge MP, Minister for Fair Trading & Citizenship, UP!Club members Saxon Graham and Ruth Cromer who cut the ribbon to start the Walk at Circular Quay West

* Tara Grech (Everyone Can Dance) for doing such a fantastic job coordinating the Buddy Walk Picnic.

* Our wonderful yellow-shirted army of volunteers (including those from Notre Dame University, Alcoa, Sydney Cove Rotary Club, Suncorp Metway) who marshalled and guided, set up, kept things running, painted faces, ran games, sold raffle tickets, then packed and cleaned up

* Those who provided the sausage sizzle (St George Central Rotary), lemonade stand (Justin Longhurst), coffee van (Nathan), music (wasn't Tegan Rogers great?), dancing, and the fabulous amenities in this lovely location

* All of the Buddy Walkers - friends and families. You made the day!

Buddy Walk is also a great chance to raise vital funds to ensure all children and adults with Down syndrome in Australia reach their full potential. Congratulate and support the Buddy Walk heroes at heroes.buddywalk.org.au
