Buddy Walk in Australia has been pioneered by foundation21 in South Australia, since 1999. The first Buddy Walk in NSW was held on 15 October 2006 and was called 'Walk With A Mate'. The name has been changed to Buddy Walk so that we can develop synergy with other national and international events. The first NSW Buddy Walk was held primarily as an awareness event and we had 600 walkers. They walked from Milsons Point, across the Harbour Bridge to the Royal Botanic Gardens where we held a picnic. |
