Welcome to the last refuge of users of the Quandarian Knights Academy!

SITE URL: http://mc2.vicnet.net.au/home/quandar/index.html

This is the site of the last refuge of the Gamers Alliance Members formed in the summer of 1999 at the commuinityzero "quandarians" community at http://communityzero.com.

The main HQ of the GA was called the Quandarian Knights Academy, the hub of the Gamers Alliance linked communities on the then free CommunityZero gaming communities. This place still exists even though the Gamers Alliance functionally no longer exists.

So, what happened to the Gamers Alliance?

A gaming forum called the Gamers Mafia Forums literally killed the alliance, with the help of some of it's members who are now no longer at that forum.

Simply put, it was killed because all of its members where forced to be funneled into one place. This is the exact opposite of how the Gamers Alliance was supposed to work, and effectively forced the alliance to commit suicide. With regret, most of the members that did show up at the Gamers Mafia expecting it to be the new site of the Gamers Alliance HQ were badmouthed, ridiculed, and insulted.

Because of this, they left the GA never to return, that's how the GA was killed. The founder of the Gamers Alliance took the events into consideration and there was a long period of stalemate between the Gamers Alliance and the Gamers Mafia.

Flash forward to 2009. Since then, the trouble makers on the Gamers Mafia have moved on and the new owner of the Quandarian Knights Academy has an administrator position on the Gamers Mafia to prevent anything like that from occurring again.

So just what was the Gamers Alliance and it's philosophy? Why was it so successful when it was still active?

To answer that here is a little history about the Gamers Alliance...

The GA was Founded in the summer of 1999, the idea for the gamers alliance spawned from the fact that back then many gaming sites were small and had little or no way of gaining any popularity or members beyond simple word of mouth advertising or putting their site up for submission in various search engines. Having new active participants in a forum or gaming site was worth more than gold to these struggling sites.

Word of mouth and search engine optimization (S.E.O) works great but is very time consuming. It literally takes weeks to see anything happen advertising this way in terms of any results. The Gamers Alliance was designed as way to fix just that, and get results much faster by networking common sites together.

The way it worked, was a single site founder would go around looking for small struggling gaming sites that had a common goal in mind. A typical gaming site had about 6 or 7 members that logged on frequently, these were its key members keeping the site alive. This kind of site was our target. They all had a common goal, they wanted to grow larger but could not take the time to do it.

Enter the Gamers Alliance.

The visiting administrator would invite each of those smaller site's administrators to 'link up" to the main gamers alliance site forming a ring of linked gaming sites.

The reason this worked so well was because having 10 sites with just 10 members on each site created a possible 100 different members. Keep in mind this is 100 total active different members!

Now magnify that by 10 (having each member invite just 9 friends each) and you have 100 members on each site (that's 100 different total different active members), this means the entire Gamers Alliance as a whole, would now have 1000 or more members across the 10 main sites.

This worked great!

Each of the members on each of the sites are asked by its administrator to visit each of the linked up sites and become members of them. After this is done, there is anywhere between 20 and 25 members on each of the sites.

The original gamers alliance had 10 sites (10 Administrators) with an average of 20 different people on each site. So initially we had about 200 total members. As time went by, this average grew to more than 100 on some sites bringing us to nearly 1000 members by time CommunityZero started to charge for hosting these gaming communities. Out of those 1000 members at least 80% of them were active.

As soon as word got out that CZ was going to be charging we immediately formed a 'web ring' at a site called webrings which later was abandoned because of the commercialization of advertisements that plagued it got too frustrating.

The original GA webring still exists, but is plagued by ads.You can still find the gamers alliance webring which has grown to at least 15 sites at:

http://A.webring.com/hub?ring=gamersalliance that webring was founded by the same founder that build the gamers alliance.

The founder of the Gamers Alliance at Community Zero was a guy named Mark Townsend, AKA "Lord Quandar". He was the original founder of "The Quandarian Knights Academy" the hub of the alliance. For years Mark kept his identity private, going under the alias "Mike Carrico".

Because the Gamers Alliance now no longer functionally exists, Lord Quandar's true identity can now be revealed publicly.

Mark used the alias Mike Carrico to hide his identity for years (with permission from the real Mike Carrico). After the GA was broken apart by the gamers mafia mark formed a plan to get even. His plan was to anything he could to gain the respect of the gamers mafia members so that he could gain access to the Gamers Mafia Administrators Panel and over a period of years eventually remove the trouble makers from that gaming site, then silently pass the administrator torch over to Xan Carrico (AKA Cyber Knight Xan), the current owner of Quandarian Knights Academy.

Mark's mission was successful, and he has now since moved on leaving Xan Carrico AKA CyberKnightXan in control of the Gamers Mafia website.

UPDATE: SEPT 2010:

==========================================================
The GAMERSMAFIA.US domain has been transferred over to Alexander M. Carrico (formerly Mike Carrico before his legal name change in late 2009). He is now the sole Admin and owner of both the domain and the gaming community. You can visit the new Gamers Mafia Syndicate at: http://www.gamersmafia.us if you wish to be a part of an active gaming community again.

This site you are on now is where the remaining administrators of the CommunityZero Gamers Alliance (called founders) stood strong to find a good place to host their base of operations, and came to meet after CommunityZero broke them apart by charging for hosting. This was the last place we met as a group before the GA was disbanded forever.

Incidentally, it's members never really did find a place that everyone could agree upon. So this place stays as sort of a monument to what was. You may read anything you want from this site, and join if you like to comment and post on anything regarding games. We were always looking for new people to share their experiences in gaming. This site exists to continue the Gamers Alliance legacy.

Welcome to the Quandarian Knights Academy.

We recommend that once you login you do not logout out of the community. This will ensure that you can use the portal at Xan Software anytime without needing to continually login each time.

Thanks for visiting the Quandarian Knights Academy.
