Vietnam Veterans Fred Greenway and Tony Pearson lay a wreath in memory of all veterans and their departed mates, Jack Carruthers and Bob Milligan, 5RAR, and Laurie Horby, Royal Australian Navy, at Pandanus Park War Veterans Memorial, 18th August 2003.
Australian Vietnam Service Ribbons
Veterans of all conflicts have been gathering at Pandanus Park, Cape York Peninsula since 1999.
While visiting from April through to September (in the dry) the main congregation assembles for Vietnam Veterans Day, the 18th August each year. In 2003 the estimation was that veterans with partners totalled 300-400 people.
They held a Dawn Service and consecration of the memorial built at Pandanus Park by veterans, followed by the normal fellowship and war stories.
It is expected this year will be as big, if not bigger with John Williamson putting on a concert for the Troops and partners.

The war veterans involved with Project Pandanus up in North Queensland have asked the Federal Government to intervene and make a compulsory Land Acquisition of the land known as Pandanus Park or Kalpowar Station.Veterans are asked to contact their local Federal Member requesting support for this acquisition.
