James Noble
Native of Gulf Country, taken when young to N.S.W.. Sent to school
by Mr Doyle at the Grammar School Scone with Bishop of North Queensland
and Canon Edwards, on death of ....... ........, Yarrabah Missionary
Helper amongst his own people.
Early in January 1937 Jame's second wife Angelina went into Cairns
Hospital sufferingfrom eye trouble, which was found to be due to
congenital syphilis. On 19. 1.1937 James and two daughterswent into
see her, and found she had been sent to Fantome Island without and
chance of saying farewell.The launch was waiting at the wharf to take
her home, but she was put on the train for Townsville instead.
Rev E A Gribble, being in Townsville, on boarding a launch to go to
Palm Island found her sitting on the launch.
Neither James nor anyone else inspected infection. (sic)

Taken by .... when an infant from his people some of whom were shot by
Christie Palmerston. Brought up by the Swallow family at Hambledon.
At about 12 years old was given to the Simmonds. Then passed in to the
care Rev J B Gribble founder of this Mission. Accompanied him on
lecturing tour through Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales.

Dick
Taken from his people by beche-de-mer fishermen and kept for six years
on board the schooner. On one occasion his brutal master to punish him for
something or other, tied a weight to his neck also a long rope and throwing
him overboard towed him behind the schooner till nearly drowned then hauled
him on board again.

she being left wounded by a blow from a club.

Nellie Yimbungui
Taken from her people when a child by force, kept handcuffed each night
to prevent her escape (by A------ of M-------- (sic)) sent to Mackay.
There for years with family named Ball. Just before birth of her
half-caste child, sent back to her country and came to Station where
her mother, father and sister ?lived.

Note from Board for Protection of Aborigines, Victoria
dated 14. 4.1899
Certificate
The bearer of this certificate named Dick Billibong, was brought by some
unknown persons from North Queensland to Victoria, where he found employment
with a butcher, but again was taken away by a Circus Company and after some
time left in the bush quite uncared for. The above Board, having heard of the
case took care of the boy and now return him by steamer to his native home
at Cairns, North Queensland.
To anyone with whom the boy shouldcome in contact it is recommended to show
kindness to him until he has found a home near Cairns at the Mission Station
in that locality

Along side this are some handwritten comments as follows
Dick died at 11.00am Wednesday August 9, 1899
after six weeks illness, consumption.
Was baptised on sunday previous to his death.
Buried at 6.00pm on the day he died.
