Percy Jangala (Wailbri) of Mt Doreen
It has been reported to this office that the
abovementioned Aboriginal is dead. This information
was given to us by Percy's son Clancy.

Percy had two sons, Clancy born in 1938 and Leo
born in 1941. According to Clancy his father died after
Mr Bill Braitling's death and after Leo had been 'made
young man'. Unfortunately, we were not able to get any
further information except that Percy died and was buried
at Mt Doreen.
Could you please check and advise whether Percy's
death has been registered, and if not, would you endeavour
to obtain sufficient particulars to arrange registration.

Outstanding Aboriginal Deaths Not Registered
I refer to your memorandum W25/65/1253/17 dated 11th
August, 1965.
With reference to Nellie Nagamara who died at Tennant
Creek in 1962 listed by you, we have two census cards in this office
which are probably identical with the attached copy of form of
information of death.
One card shows Nellie Kamara Alyawarra born about 1912
usually in the Warrabri and Kurundi districts, consorts Kurundi
Frank Bangarda Alyawarra and Sambo Jabangardi; children Alec Simpson
P.C. and Lorna Warai. This Nellie died at Tennant Creek Hospital
on 10th November, 1962, and is the one mentioned in the F.O.I.D
enclosed.
The other card shows Nellie Lailbow Nagamara Alyawarra
1910, consort Frank (Kurundi) Jabaljari Alyawarra, resident at Kurundi
at 9. 3.1961 and Epenarra at 16. 9.1961 and no further record.
Seeing the form of information of death was completed at
Warrabri it would have been forwarded to the Registrat at Alice Springs.

Re death of male ward Buwaiwai (11 years) on Wednesday
August 14th. Buwaiwai was brought to me on Wednesday evening at
5:30pm almost unconscious, was in a state of extreme shock. I
could find no sign of injury apart from a small area of grazed skin
below right knee. Pulse very weak and feeble, airhunger cold and
clammy.
History was given that child had moved across trailer tray
which was loaded just as driver crossed a culvert, lost his balance
and fell in front of rear wheel which passed over his body apparently
from left to right. Skin was unmarked but there was some tenderness
over spleen area and later there was some swelling at this site.
Boy was treated for shock and Dr Richards notified, he arranged
that child would be evacuated as soon as possible, and advised
Morphine Gr 1/6 4th hourly if necessary for pain or restlessness.
Child became very restless and pain seemed to be increasing H.I.
morphine gr 1/6 given at 6:40pm. At 6:45pm pulse became very
slow and weak, child in state of collapse, 6:50 ImI Coramine ice
given pulse failing.
At 6:55 Death.

Could further particulars please be furnished regarding
'Old Jacky'.
The name might refer to Jack Bomalarg who died in Katherine
Hospital at about the time mentioned.

To: District Welfare Officer, Katherine.
There is a record of a Jacky Bel-ud-mun
Jangala Jauan of Katherine, date of birth 1918, dying
on the same date as 'Old Jacky' (4. 5.1962) (My
W25/65/1253/17 of 11th August, 1965, refers).
No relatives are marked on the card, but there is an
endorsement 'Dcd 62/37/87 ex Katherine refers'.
However, this death has not been registered, and it
is thought that 'Old Jacky', Jack Bomalarg, and Jacky
Bel-un-dun could be the same person. Please investigate
and advise.

As you say, the deaths referred to have not been
registered, though I can only repeat that the appropriate
information forms were completed and forwarded in each case.
Information of Death forms for Malgarnida and
Nalbarnbarara have been completed again, and posted direct
to the Registrar. Listed hereunder are the names of aborigines
who have died at or near Maningrida within the past six months.
