Even though almost everyone has heard of George Orwell's novel: Nineteen Eighty Four, which predicted Big Brother surveillance under totalitarian regimes, experience shows that, given the non-relenting attacks on moral and Christian values and active encouragement of life styles that avoid critical thinking, combined with apathy, and, sad to say, often bulk stupidity, exhibited by the gullible public worldwide, it will only be a matter of time before 1984 becomes reality.
The recipe is simple: a mixture of lies, fabrication of ficticious threats to society that 'unfortunately' require drastic counter-measures, and persistence by those in power; implemented in steps that are large enough to upset some but sufficiently small to be tolerated by the majority. Each individual step will, in itself, not be overly harsh, given the 'circumstances', but the cumulative effect will be 666. We are now entering the experimental phase where governments and other key players on the international stage are keen to test the waters of public tolerance, with media 'support' provided in measured doses. And naturally surveillance is an indispensible part of the 'safety' package. |
