Brunswick Orthodox Group
This is an online forum group to facilitate learning, theological discussion and information sharing between the monthly bible classes held by the Russian Orthodox Church (Abroad) Cathedral parish (Victoria). The group had met for many years in Kew. Now that it has outgrown that kind household, the group meets at the new Church Hall in Brunswick.
Everyone is welcome.
The group is made up of Orthodox (and those interested in Orthodoxy) from many nationalities, including Greek, Russian, Australian, etc. Talks are conducted in English. The group is serious about gaining as much information about Orthodoxy and supporting each other in this most noble endeavour. Orthodoxy is more than a religion; it is a way of life.
This is the first Orthodox (and currently only!) online group within the mc2 set-up (via VicNet).
As a member of this group you can use certain features (tabs are situated to the left once you become a member):
- SHARED FILES- save transcribed talks or interviews, reports, articles, etc.
- EVENTS to share information about meetings, promotions, cultural events...
- FORUM to discuss issues, concerns, seek feedback.
- GUESTBOOK to introduce yourself /your group.
- PHOTOS of promotional events, etc. (Remember to obtain poeple consent).
- LINKS to direct you or inform the group of other relevant websites.
Please abide by the following simple rules for posting on the FORUM, once you become a member. These help keep the forum looking orderly, and therefore easier to follow.
1. a) When responding to an existing topic, click on the FIRST POST and remove the RE. (ie. DO NOT reply directly to the post in question, as this has the effect of slating the posts to the right, which quickly makes the forum page look chaotic.)
b) Having done as above, at the start of the post, reference the person and date of the post you are responding to. This can be done as simply as typing (ref. J.Citizen’s post 11/Nov/07) at the opening.
2. Stick to the subject/theme of an existing thread - if you want to deviate, start a new topic.
3. Do not change the subject heading midway through a thread.
4. If the thread you want to contribute to is further away than the second page from the front, start a New Message (and once again, if you are replying to someone, reference that person’s name & post date at the start of your post).
