MAORI: "Nga Hoe Waka Cultural Group"
A New Zealand Maori Culture Group, located in Altona & surrounding suburbs. Established in 2005 initially to row a New Zealand Maori war canoe in the Yarra river with success. Now practising Maori song & dance (Kapa Haka).
The group regularly meets every sunday for Kapa haka & has recently added Maori language classes (Te reo) & weaving into its sunday activicties.
The door is open to anyone & everyone regardless of age or culture. We are more willing to help those who are committed to learn more about the culture of the New Zealand Maori people.
We are a registered not for profit organisation therefore all the material for classes are donated. The property we use has been allocated to the group by Altona secondary college where we are located, in between the college & Altona west primary school.
If your interested on learning how to do the Haka & sing maori songs or just want to have a cuppa dont be shy to contact the group.
