Cross over running is an important technique for your handeball players to learn. Not only is it an attractive way to play handball with the added benefit of blocking the goalkeeper's view but it also enables you to overcome teams in melbourne which insist on man marking your players throughout the entire game. By crossing over from one side to another you will be able to confuse even the best of the handball defenders, as they attempt to follow their handball man without knowing where the ball has gone. To introduce your handball players to this style of running and passing we start with a simple cross over drill, with handball players running from one side of the court to the other, when they meet in the middle the handball player in possession pops the ball up to the other player for them to run onto and carry away. After this we then start to look at how this skill can be used for maximum effect in a game by increasing the pace and adding a shooting element into the exercises. Depending on your players' ability you can even add a defender into the mix to see how your players cope under pressure when making their cross over runs! for bookings contact: andres olascoaga Manager handball development Po box 573 Bentleigh East, 3165 Email ndentertainment@optusnet.com.au Telefax 03 95027862 Mobile 0412160607 |
