After 7 1/2 years on IVF Kevin and I were delighted to learn we were pregnant with twins. The months passed quickly, particularly as Kevin had been posted back to South Australia and we had to pack up our life in Sydney and move.

I arrived back in SA in early June and busily prepared to move into our home which had been rented for the past 8 years. After several weeks Kevin arrived in SA and we moved into our home.

Life was wonderful, I was back home with my family and I was pregnant...what more could I want? Then on the August 12th I noticed a little bit of blood...not worrying too much I contacted my Obstetrician. That night Kev and I went for our appointment fully expecting to be told not to worry. BUT we were told I was in labour and that the babies would be coming very soon. Tearfully we told our family and drove into The Adelaide Women's & Children's Hospital.

The next few days passed in a blur, but on August 16th Mitchell Steven (weighing 660g) and Harrison Adam (weighing 840g) were born by emergency c-section. They were so tiny and fragile...but they were beautiful and I loved them fiercely from the moment I saw them.

They had many battles to fight over the five months they were in hospital and many times we were afraid that we would never get to take them home. But thanks to the love and care of the NICU & SCBU staff and Dr Haslam the boys finally came home on Dec 30th.

And now almost 2 years later they are active little boys who amaze us each day with their will and determination. We know there may be battles ahead, but we live with the knowledge that we have been truly blessed to be parents to these beautiful boys.
