moyne online
Moyne Online has been established as an MC2 community for e-gap partners to interact with each other and offer support and suggestions.
Moyne Shire has received funding for the e-gaps program. The e-gaps program is an initiative of the Victorian Government's Connecting Victoria Strategy. The key objective of this $1.3 million program is to increase the level of public access to the community. The program has now completed the funding rounds and is currently establishing public Internet access terminals in towns where there is no public Internet access available to the general community. The program encouraged collaboration between local government and communities so as to develop the most appropriate Internet access solution for each community.
e-gaps projects differ according to the needs of individual communities, however they all are close to public transport or other public amenities and provide:
* at least one Internet connected computer and printer * a minimum of 20 hours public access over at least 5 days * access to all members of the community including people with disabilities and those from non-English speaking backgrounds * access to the Internet which is free or low cost.
56 e-gaps projects are currently being established across Victoria in a wide variety of venues including: local stores, service stations, community centres, tourist information centres, leisure centres, council offices, cafes, schools, community health centres and hotels.
Councils that made successful applications for e-gaps funding are: Bass Coast, Baw Baw, Bendigo, Buloke, Cardinia, Central Goldfields, Darebin, East Gippsland, Glenelg, Hindmarsh, Hume, La Trobe, Melton, Mildura, Moonee Valley, Morrabool, Moreland, Mornington Peninsula, Moyne, Murrindindi, Northern Grampians, Southern Grampians, South Gippsland, West Wimmera, Whittlesea and Yarra Ranges
