Okay, having said all that, here are some links to some suppliers. MERRIGUM ALPACAS - The home of STINKY and MARTY, famous for their visits to Girgarre Market! Located at 180 Waverley Avenue, Merrigum. Carol's unexpected passing in September 2009 means that we are not sure yet whether Alan, Katherine and Elizabeth will continue the business. COLLEEN'S CRAFTS - Local in Kyabram, Colleen supplies handspun yarns, knitted, felted, woven and quilted articles. Has lovely hand dyed knitting yarns too. EWE GIVE ME THE KNITS - mail order only. Based locally in Tongala, Mandie has lots of fibres and is an agent for Ashford NZ products. HIGHLAND FELTING SUPPLIES - Another country based mail order business, aimed at felters. Pat has felting needles and those foam hat blocks you see Laura stabbing away at when you visit the Mad Hatters at Girgarre Market. There are lots of fibres, books and Hat Shapers, the hard hat blocks for finishing your wet felted hats. VIRGINIA FARM WOOLWORKS - Find them on the web, they are a large supplier of fibres and equipment. They also stock Landscape brand dyes. IXCHEL ANGORA RABBIT STUD - You'll find some gorgeous alternatives to your usual spinning and knitting supplies. Charly dyes some wonderful colours. Her on line shop is coming soon. KRAFTKOLOUR - All the dyeing supplies you could ever want! Keep it simple by using LANDSCAPE dyes for animal fibres and silk. Or become the chemist with their extensive dye materials and product information. Also suppliers of silk, calico, silk painting and silk screening supplies, books and lots of related material. Kraftkolour were burnt out in the Black Saturday fires of February 2009 and are back in business now. FIRST EDITION FIBRES AND YARNS - a mill in Euroa which supplies lots of other businesses. Their 22 micron merino tops are gorgeous, great for dyeing, felting or spinning. No website, but you can contact them at PO Box 201 Euroa 3666, or visit them at 16-18 Charles Street, Euroa. Reduce your costs by buying direct from the mill. BEAUTIFUL SILKS - silk fabrics, and masses of inspiration. Located in Fitzroy. Great to visit when you are in Melbourne but be careful with the address, it is a little out of the way. Great for silks for making Nuno Felt. LISA'S eBAY SHOP - Chinese factory that makes bamboo knitting needles, ball winders, swifts etc. Laura has purchased from them many times without any problems. The Mad Hatters' supplier of those circular knitting needles used to knit the large rugs for the Nurturing Women Project. WANGARATTA KNITTING MILLS - mail order or visit the shop. Lots of knitting yarns. Look for their cones of yarn too. BENDIGO WOOLLEN MILLS - mail order or visit the shop. Has great bargains, out the front of the mill shop, and the back room is fantastic. They also have wool toy stuffing which dyes beautifully and is good for felting. Okay, have we got you started? There are lots more suppliers out there. Use search engines by putting in key words to search, such as SPINNING, FIBRES, SUPPLIER, WEARABLE ART, TEXTILE ART, FELTING, FELTMAKING and type these in various combinations to see what you find. Guilds such as the Victorial Feltmakers, and Spinners and Weavers Guilds can lead you to even more links. Magazines are great for adverts, and we mostly overlook these.
