Sometimes I sign.
Use gesture, As a way to interact Participate in the conversation. Often I miss out on eye contact. When I use my A. A. C. device, so Its nice to have alternative ways, To point, Draw a letter in the air. Laugh when you get it wrong. Clap when you have it right. Sometimes my signs are awkward. When my body is awkward. Spelling with my fingers. You don’t always get it. Even though the sign is right, I cant make it look the way, Its meant to. Only when you get to know me. You learn my movements. How my eyes talk. What my expressions mean. What my signs tell you. And, How effective it can be to communicate. My way. – Published in AGOSCI News 2003 |
