The Temple Of Mariah was originally concieved of during March 2001. I had an already existing website on Angelfire, and thought it might be fun to have a website dedicated to my absolutely all-time favorite singer, Mariah Carey. For the next month I signed up for my new Angelfire account, searched for every bit of information I might need, and build my site using notepad.

April 16th, 2001! The day that I was going to upload on finally arrived, and in half an hour, The Temple Of Mariah was a fully working operational website. (OK. So a few links didn't work!) I began talking to other webmasters over the net, meeting firstly Carolina of Mariah Carey Wallpaper's Galour! It was at a time that her site wasn't going to well, and I did everything I could from the other side of the world to help her, and for that I have made a great friend that I still talk to!!

Next came the hard part, I had had a few hits, but had yet to get a major amount of visitors, so I did the painful excercise of advertising, creating banners and getting them everywhere I could. It was hard at the time as it was the first website I was seriously committed to keeping up and running.

A year later the we had been through 3 layouts (see "Past layouts") and did our best to keep the site interesting to viewers. I continued on, and decided to completely redo the site. I toyed with a couple of different idea, and finally found one I liked.

I put the Temple Of Mariah's current format on hold, with no updates for a couple of months, and returned to the drawing board. In those weeks, I had made 3/4 of Version 4. I was amazed at how quickly I had learnt to edit all this HTML I was dealing with! And in August 2002, 2 days after my fathers Birthday, the Temple Of Mariah was reborn, and it looked absolutley stunning! Also, we had scrapped Angelfire, as I was sick of the ads, and found a new host, based in Melbourne, Australia. (my home town) That was free and easier to use than Anelfire. We had moved!!

I continued work when ever I could on the site, most of my life was eating, sleeping, school, and websites. And in November 2002, As part of a Venturer badge (I'm a Venturer. Venturer = Older Scout. Ranging from 15 to 18) I started a new site that I also managed. Both these site took up a lot of time and during that month whil I made the new site, the Temple Of Mariah took sorta a back seat!

January 12th 2002. I began working on the new layout, Version 5, of the Temple Of Mariah, using a very different design than anything previously used. On January 13th, the site is almost finished! And it is uploaded on January 14th, just 2 days after I started the new design!

TTOM was shut down for 2 months during mid 2003 due to server problems. On August 4, we reopened, with Version 5.2, and a completely different look.

On August 21st, Just 3 weeks after our reoppening, The Temple Of Mariah was again updated with a new layout. Version 6.1 was the first time this site used I frames, but looks absolutely stunning. Im hoping to keep it up until about Christmas!
