Welcome to the LOGAN RIVER & DISTRICT FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY INC

The Logan River and District Family History Society was started back in June 2001 with a small group holding meetings in Jimboomba before moving to Logan Village and setting up a Library and Research Centre in the back room of the Logan Village Library.

In May 2005 a group known as the Beenleigh Family History Soc , had started holding meetings under the Leadership of Founder Bet Halliwell in the Beenleigh Senior Citizen Centre, agreed to join the Logan River and District Family History Society.

At the Annual General Meeting in October 2005 the members voted to find larger premises and move the Society to Beenleigh. After a few weeks of looking around the Executive Committee held talks with the Beenleigh and District Historical Society with the aim of moving into one of the buildings at the Beenleigh Historical Village. An agreement was reached and the Society moved into the Old Beenleigh Council Chambers in January 2006.
We are now Residents of the Old Beenleigh Post Office

Its aims and objectives are:-

• To bring together people who are interested in the study of Genealogy, Family and Local history.

• To assist and encourage members in their studies.

• To preserve Historical Records.

• To maintain a Reference and Research Library

• To collect and preserve material that has reference to the Families and People who lived and live in the Logan River District.
