VISION STATEMENT

Mernda Primary School staff and students are proud of our school and what we achieve together. We believe our school is both visionary and creative in the way it develops and delivers the curriculum. We recognise and appreciate the support from within our community and believe it creates a spirit and drive that is uniquely Mernda. We promote ourselves 'As a School of Thinkers' offering 'Quality Schooling in a Country Setting' and we ask parents and visitors to 'Experience the Difference'.

We have a positive sense of ourselves as a vibrant learning school community. Our school size, country atmosphere and our safe, secure location encourage self-confidence and leadership among the students.

The things our parents value about us are: - the warm friendly approach; the professional and supportive teachers; the children being challenged and working hard; the learning technology program, and the extras such as choir, guitar and keyboard.

Mernda Primary School has a strong school syllabus, which reflects the educational needs of our students and community. The school curriculum is based on eight Key Learning Areas and the Thinking Curriculum. Our pedagogical skills [the art of teaching] reflect best practice. The school's assessment program is purposeful and systematic and our reporting to parents is informative.

ACACIA COLLEGE

Image

Acacia College is new and fresh and innovative, yet we are founded on the Uniting Church’s long history of providing exceptional independent education.

We are offering the highest quality education, yet we are determined to ensure our fee structure is affordable.

We are located in an area of Melbourne that is rapidly becoming urbanised, yet our physical environment will incorporate carefully planned and sustainable green spaces.

We are providing a learning environment that is firmly based on Christian values, yet we will welcome students from all faiths and cultural backgrounds.

We are providing a broad range of curriculum options and diverse learning pathways, yet we will ensure that every student receives a solid grounding in all essential areas of learning.

Our main focus is on providing the highest quality educational environment, yet our students will also benefit enormously from our location at the centre of a much larger community hub.

The emblem we have chosen for our college incorporates a variety of Acacia leprosa (Cinnamon Wattle) called Scarlet Blaze. The Scarlet Blaze is an ideal symbol for Acacia College because it truly embodies the attributes of freshness, uniqueness and surprise.
