ABOUT US Records indicate that first Mass in the district was celebrated in 1848 at the home of the parents of Mary MacKillop. The exact location is not known but is believed to be in Epping. The Catholic community of St. Joseph’s has a long history dating from 1882 when the church was built by workers employed at Yan Yean Reservoir. The Catholic community has been active ever since, serving Mernda and the surrounding rural district. We look forward to the church and Parish community serving our expanding communities. The St Joseph’s Mernda Catholic community offers a warm welcome to all families in our local neighborhood and invite you to become a part of the growing Catholic community. UNITING CHURCH
Mernda Uniting Church 97-103 Schotters Road, Mernda
The Minister and congregation of Mernda Uniting Church extend a warm invitation to people of all ages to join them for worship in their historic church. Worship is at 10.30am on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays of each month. Opened in 1888, the church was originally a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel. The church continues to be an active part of Mernda life, and is available for weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other ceremonies.
