| The May edition of the Buchan Bulletin covered the Anzac Day commemoration and reported, in part, as follows: Locals and visitors gathered at the Avenue of Honour to remember those in the district who have served in all conflicts, and in particular, those who did not come home. The service began with a walk from the Aleppo Pine at the end of the Avenue to the front gates under the dappled light of the old oaks planted by residents of Buchan South in the early 1920s.
Zillah Norfolk, President of the Friends of the Avenue of Honour, opened the proceedings and provided an overview of the improvements that have occurred since the Remembrance Day Ceremony in November 2008. Of significance were the Commemorative Seats that have been installed by Jamie Houghton, and paid for by various families as well as a small grant that has been received. These will eventually have commemorative plaques put on them. |
