Kernicterus Support Group- Australia aims to provide information and support to families with children with kernicterus or hyperbilirubinaemia (high bilirubin). It aims to link families throughout Australia to share experiences, information on therapies, treatment, problems, successes and failures. The Group also welcomes professionals who come into contact with individuals with kernicterus or hyperbilirubinaemia. Kernicterus is a rare but preventable neurological disorder caused by newborn jaundice that can result in cerebral palsy, auditory processing problems, gaze and vision abnormalities, and dental enamel hypoplasia.
