Aloha!

Welcome to Kai 'Opua Outrigger Canoe Club Australia

Formed in 2004 to promote the spirit, culture and philosophies of Polynesian outrigger canoe paddling. Our club is based in Geelong, Victoria, Australia and is a sister club to one of the oldest formed clubs in Hawaii, Kai 'Opua Canoe Club Hawaii.

Kai 'Opua Australia is one of 5 outrigging clubs in Victoria and one of 2 based in the Geelong region. We have strong ties to Hawaii and have members not only in Geelong and Melbourne but also throughout Australia and from Kai 'Opua Hawaii. Our founding members were also founding members of the first outrigging club in Victoria 10 years ago and continued to help form more clubs within the state before starting Kai 'Opua in 2004 to create a club with a main focus on the culture.

Members at all levels are welcome. We have social and competitive paddlers. Whilst our aim is to always have fun we take our competition seriously and a proud to promote our club as having some of the best paddlers in Australia with wins at national and international regattas.

Our most competitive paddlers have an impressive list of sporting achievements within outrigging as well as kayaking, adventure racing, ironman, swimming and netball at state, national and world level.
