| Vale: Harry Anderson
We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Harry Anderson, an esteemed member of the Geelong Jazz Club. Harry has been very sick for the past few months but, with the fighting spirit he possessed, he was hoping to attend many more jazz festivals and functions. Sadly this was not to be. Harry passed away during the early hours of Sunday the 18th of January - his wife Cheryl and daughters: Donna and Amanda; by his side. Harry was our club's Mr fix-it man. Anything that needed replacing or repaired Harry was the man you turned to. Harry and Cheryl Anderson also contributed to the Jazz Club over the years by billeting band members in the past. Harry was most recently Vice President of the Geelong Jazz Club - resigning from that position just recently due to his health. He was also the “sound” person at our club and was exceptionally good at his job. He will be extremely hard to replace. As sick and as physically frail as Harry was his thoughts were with the Geelong Jazz Club. Low and behold on New Year Eve something must have told Harry that things were not going as well as they should have been. Just prior to kick off time, who should walk in through the door no other than our Harry. It was the greatest contribution that Harry could have ever made in his time with the club as we were in big trouble trying to get everything working, After about 5 minutes we were up and running thanks to Harry. We will miss you Harry. Rest In Peace. Deepest sympathy to Cheryl, Donna and Amanda, from all members of the Geelong Jazz Club. Bas |
