East Gippsland News: 21st October, 2009 Great support for Pia’s plea Almost 100 people took part in a trivia night organised by Pia on Friday evening to raise money for the World Vision child sponsorship program. Enough money was raised to pay for another year of support for a child and her community in Tanzania. There were nine teams and for a second year in a row, a team made up of friends of Pia’s brother, Myles, won the night after competing in trivia, drawing, music recognition and racing ‘frogs’. “I would like to thank all the family and friends who supported the event. There were also people who couldn’t attend but made a donation; Myles’ friends who played music, friends who made supper items, helped on the door and clean up and donations from local businesses,” Pia said. “I felt really supported and now I can support my sponsor child and her community for another year.” Hilary, Pia’s mother, also said “I’d like to specially mention the members of the public who didn’t know Pia but, who, being moved by her endeavours to help others, attended the night. What a great community we live in.”
