As this is our first Newsletter for 2005, a belated “Happy New Year” to everyone and may it be filled with good health & happiness for you all.
Also a belated but very Happy Birthday to Gordon & Heather who celebrated their birthdays in February, we hope you had a great day! A big welcome to Catherine Norman, our newest staff member. Catherine has been employed at the Centre as the Assistant Co-Ordinator. Lovely to have you aboard Catherine! Our Morning Teas are proving to be successful even though only a small group attend. For the future we are planning to invite different groups from the Community to make it even more enjoyable. Remember that anyone can come along for a cuppa and chat and it’s a great way to meet new people, make new friends and catch up with old ones. In February we had an aromatherapy demonstration as part of the morning and a good time was had by all. March was a round the table chat with Jean entertaining us with tales from her trip to New Zealand and the sheep farming properties she visited, very interesting! We also talked about the possibility of having a regular Yoga class for anyone who is interested. Heather is looking into the possibility of getting a tutor from Bendigo. On the 7th April the Centre will take possession of a new digital photocopier, which apparently does everything but wash the dishes! We’re all very excited but the nerves are setting in as to how we’ll operate it (with a bit of luck it might even turn itself on!) The Walking Group is still going strong and some lovely walks have been had in and around Inglewood. For six weeks the walk has been followed by a session on various health topics conducted by IDHC and these talks have been fun and most informative. A nice lunch was had at The Red Couch Café to finish off the six-week course. We intend to continue with our weekly walks and plan to go to Bridgewater & Melville Caves in the near future. Everyone is most welcome to come along and join in the walks which are a great social activity and good for you at the same time. The group meets at 9.00am every Monday outside the Resource Centre. Hope to see you there. Heather is doing really well in her Leadership program and although she badly sprained her ankle on her first field trip (she limped for 3 weeks afterwards) and had to endure a weekend of a total vegetarian diet (she’s a meat & 3 veg lady) she is thoroughly enjoying herself and has finally managed to conquer her fear of flying. Well done Heather, keep up the good work! Tina has started studying for her Certificate 1 & 2 in Business Administration and we wish her all the best. She is also doing Voluntary work at the Bendigo RSPCA as well as at the Resource Centre. It’s great to see a young person giving readily to the Community. Good on you Tina! Well, that’s about it for now, please remember if you have any ideas for a course or would like to see anything included in the Centre‘s program, let us know and we’ll see what can be done. OPEN DAY - Neighbourhood House Week Thurs 12th May. The Center will be open offering FREE “cuppa” all day FREE Computer & Internet usage and ½ price Photocopying Until next time take care Smile – It’s Contagious |
